Pregnant Katy Perry — showing off her baby bump in a pink-and-yellow sequined romper for a performance in Australia Sunday — let her wishes be known: She wants a girl!
"I hope it's a girl!" the mom-to-be told the crowd at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 final. Featuring Australia vs. India, the match occurred on International Women's Day, which made her comment all the more fitting. Her other outfit for the appearance was a purple minidress with the female symbol emblazoned all over it.
Katy, 35, blurted out her wish to give birth to a daughter while singing her hit "Wide Awake." She also sang signature tunes like "Firework" and "Roar."
Katy will be a first-time mom when she gives birth this summer. Bloom is the father of 9-year-old son Flynn with his ex-wife, model Miranda Kerr.
Perry confirmed her pregnancy Wednesday evening during an Instagram Live session, terming it (see what we did there?) the "longest secret" she's ever had to keep. She said she and Bloom are "excited and happy" about their upcoming arrival, and also teased her next album by saying, "There’s a lot that will be happening this summer. Not only will I be giving birth — literally — but also figuratively to something you guys have been waiting for."
She said of the pregnancy, "I've just been trying to create this space in my own life where I'm not running myself too ragged and creating space for something new to happen like this. We were both looking forward to this new interval of life, and sharing this."
Katy and Orlando became engaged in February of last year, and had hoped to wed this June in Japan, but they've postponed the nuptials due to coronavirus fears.
