Dr. Phil Reveals Secrets from Kim Richards’ Explosive Sit-Down

Dr. Phil host joined “Extra's” Charissa Thompson to shed light on his interview with the reality star, and explained he doesn't think that Richards remembered what happened to cause her arrest. “I think she doesn't remember a lot of it, frankly, which is a matter of concern.” The talk show host continued, “I think she is fuzzy on a lot of it, which is, as I say, cause for concern.”

McGraw admitted the “Real Housewife” got frustrated with him during their interview. “Addicts and alcoholics are great at deflecting, and I think she's shown a lot of that behavior. I'm not real good at letting people do that; as a result I think that can be very frustrating when you don't let people wiggle, and I don't let people wiggle. I didn't let her wiggle, and think it was very frustrating for her.”

In a promo for the interview, we see the reality star storm out of the room after Dr. Phil criticized her bad behavior and questioned her sobriety, with Richards asking, “Is this an intervention?”

Dr. Phil commented about the scene, “Well, I'll let people decide whether this was a storm-out or an anxiety storm, but again, when that's their stock and trade of deflect, change the subject, control, manipulate, and you take those things away from them, they kind of run out of coping energy, and I think when it happens, you've gotta have a big anxiety rush — and I think that's a lot of what's going on.”

Another point of contention in Richards' life is her rocky relationship with her sister, fellow “Housewives” co-star Kyle. Major issues erupted between the sisters on the show after Kim's dog bit Kyle's daughter. Dr. Phil revealed that Kim and Kyle have been in contact since her arrest. “Well, we talk about that on the show, talk about her relationship with Kyle, you'll hear her speak about that. They've not been in a lot of contact, but they did have some contact with regard to this event, so that comes out.”

While their interview was clearly heated, Dr. Phil did come away with a positive view of Richards. “I like Kim, think she seems like a nice woman. I met her children during the interview as well, they seem like really good kids. Somebody's done something right along the way to have kids that turned out that well, so overall I came away with a positive impression of her, but think that obviously she has some things she needs to deal with.”
