Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell Reveal Secret to 37-Year Relationship, Plus: They Dish on ‘Christmas Chronicles 2’
Hollywood royalty Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have been together nearly four decades, and now they are back together on-screen, playing Mr. and Mrs. Claus in “The Christmas Chronicles 2.”
“Extra’s” Jenn Lahmers caught up with the couple, who dished on working together, and on the secret to their 37-year relationship!
Chatting about the movie, Goldie opened up about working with Kurt, saying, “It was good, believe it or not. I didn’t bring any of my problems on set… It was really, really fun… It was fun playing the characters.”
Hawn gushed of Russell, “I love being around him.”
Jenn asked, “Goldie, did you just want to run your fingers through Santa Claus’ luxurious locks?” Goldie smiled and replied, “Wild horses couldn't have made me do that… I mean, ‘Don’t touch my beard! Don’t touch my hair…!’ The hair, this is like a system, this is like a weather system, you get it fixed and it is there… Running your fingers through it doesn't quite work.”
Kurt interjected, “There’s more to it than one would think… I always wanted to look like this guy — he always looks like the wind is blowing — and it's not easy to make that happen.”
Goldie added, “I know! It's artwork.”
Lahmers also asked about the secret sauce to their long-lasting relationship.
Kurt said, “If we knew that, we’d put it in a bottle, sell it, and say, ‘So long!’”
Goldie answered, “I know people always want the answer to that. The answer lies within you… We’re alchemists, you have to be alchemists, you have to be able to turn all kinds of metal into gold, and that's what we have to do… Sometimes, it takes a little finagling. Sometimes things don't go your way… But the point is you have to go deeper. You’ve got to find out what's going to get in the way of a love story. It’s just being conscious, knowing what you want… Friendship is everything, support, friendship, being there for someone, compassion — empathy is huge.”
Kurt heartily agreed, saying, “Go with that!”
“The Christmas Chronicles 2” debuts Wednesday on Netflix.
