“Extra’s” Alecia Davis caught up with country music superstar Tim McGraw who has been keeping very busy during the quarantine. Tim and his wife Faith Hill have been spending time at home in Nashville with their three daughters, where recently the girls decided to dye their mother’s hair pink. Tim joked, “We were hanging out by the pool and all the girls have been here for a couple weeks, so they decided to dye mom's hair pink. They wanted to do mine, but I ran!”
Tim also recently shared on social media that his daughter Audrey is a first-time voter, proudly saying, “That's been a long tradition in our family — the first day to vote, your first chance to vote. We believe that if you're gonna complain, you need to go vote.”
Tim is also ready to get out of the house to play some new music with this first solo album in five years, “Here on Earth.” The first single, “I Called Mama” honors his own mother. Talking about the song, Tim said, “It was cool because my mom went through a lot growing up. We got to use a picture of my mom in high school for the artwork. She had taken that picture right before she found out she was pregnant with me.” Tim joked, “I sort of ruined her senior year in high school. I've been trying to make up for it ever since.”
On Friday, fans can join a livestream party to celebrate his new album. Billed as a one-of-a-kind livestream event, it will give fans a rare inside look at the release of “Here on Earth” and will be live from Nashville. Fans will be able to come along with McGraw as he chats with songwriters, interacts with the band and reveals the stories behind the new songs. Tim will play some old favorites along with some new tracks.
Detailing the event, Tim shared, “I’m just trying to give you a little bit more and play some of the new songs off the new album and sort of create an experience. I’ll talk a little bit about the process of making the album, I might have a few special guests and a few surprises. It will be more along the lines of doing a concert special, but not really a concert, but a TV special.”
Referring to life during the coronavirus outbreak, he said, “It’s sort of a new way to introduce how we may be having to do some concerts for a while.”
“Here on Earth” will be released on Friday, August 21, and the special one-night-only event, “Here on Earth EXPERIENCE,” livestreams Friday, August 21, 2020, at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. Tickets are on sale at live.timmcgraw.com.
