KJ Apa, who stars as Archie Andrews on “Riverdale,” shared a tribute to his TV dad Luke Perry on Thursday.
Apa shared a photo of Luke with the message, “Rest in Love bro.” On Instagram Stories, the actor also posted the "Third Eye Blind" song "Background," which includes the lyrics, “Everything is quiet since you're not around/And I live in the numbness now/In the background.”
Perry died Monday after suffering a massive stroke. On Wednesday, “Riverdale” paid tribute to Perry at the end of its latest episode with an in memoriam notice.
Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead on the show, spoke to “Extra” Thursday, saying, “We are all recovering. Everyone says great things about him because he is a great guy.”
Other “Riverdale” stars remembered Perry on social media.
Molly Ringwald, who plays his wife on the show, tweeted, “My heart is broken. I will miss you so much Luke Perry. Sending all my love to your family.#LukePerry.”
Lili Reinhart aka Betty tweeted, "I’m finding it hard to grasp that he will no longer be around to give long hugs and share his wisdom and kindness with all of us. I’m thinking of his family. His children. I pray for them to heal and find peace in this devastating loss." She added, "I just can't believe it."
Skeet Ulrich also shared a message, writing, "Every moment must count. Our sweet and dear friend Luke has passed. Words can't even... I love you so much brother. God Bless you and I can't wait to see you again down the road."
In a separate statement, "Riverdale" executive producers said, "We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family, Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
