See Shailene Woodley’s Mug Shot
Shailene Woodley was arrested on Monday, and now the Morton County Sheriff's Department has released the “Divergent” star's mug shot.
Woodley was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline when she was taken into custody along with several other people for allegedly trespassing on a construction site.
Previously, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe tried to halt the pipeline over fears the project would destroy sacred sites, but a federal appeals court rejected the request on Sunday, reports NBC News.
Shailene's rep told People, “Shailene Woodley has been released from the Morton County Jail in North Dakota. She appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.”
Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney, who was among law enforcement involved in the case, told reporters at a press briefing on Monday, “While some would like to say this was a protest, this was not a protest — this was a riot. When you have that many people engage in that kind of behavior, inciting others to break the law, cheering others on as they do break the law, refusing to leave when they are asked to leave, that's not a protest… Today 27 arrests were made — not because we wanted that to happen, because those people on scene chose for that to happen.”
Woodley captured the protest on Facebook Live. Watch!
