Dog the Bounty Hunter Seen for the First Time Since Beth Chapman’s Death as Fans Gather at Memorial Site

A memorial has been set up for “Dog the Bounty Hunter” star Beth Chapman, who died today following a battle with throat cancer.

Her stepdaughter Lyssa Chapman shared a photo of the site on Instagram, telling followers, “Feel free to bring flowers.” She included the hashtags #BethChapman and #HawaiianStyle.

The memorial appeared to be at the family's home in Hawaii, where film crews and photographers were spotted outside, along with grieving fans. The tribute included a large picture of Beth on an easel with leis hanging on each side, as well as more leis and flowers.

Earlier in the day, Beth's husband Duane “Dog” Chapman was photographed for the first time since news of her death. He appeared somber as he talked on the phone.

This morning, Dog tweeted the sad news, “It's 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side.”

His tweet came just one day after he shared a photo of Beth in her hospital bed. His previous tweet had a lighter tone, showing off a photo of her manicure, writing, “You all know how she is about HER NAILS !!”

Their family rep told People magazine, "Beth died at 5:32 this morning, the same time she would wake up to go hiking Koko Head. The exact same time. She was surrounded by family and Dog was there, holding her hand.”

Beth will be cremated, The Blast reports. A source told the site that she gave instructions for her death arrangements, requesting she be cremated. It is unknown if the family will keep her ashes or scatter them in a special place.

Over the weekend, Beth was placed in a medically induced coma while she battled throat cancer. TMZ reported that the family had been preparing for the worst, with sources saying she was not expected to recover.

According to family spokeswoman Mona Wood-Sword, Beth was originally put into a medically induced coma so she wouldn't feel pain during her cancer treatment. Before her passing, Mona said, “Duane and the family feel she's such a fighter, she could get better. The family still has hope.”

Beth's kids Bonnie and Garry had flown to Hawaii to be by their mother's side. Bonnie posted a pic as her plane landed. Once she got to the hospital, she wrote, “There's not much of an update I can give, I can say she's getting good care. I know you guys wanted more but yknow its a coma."

After Beth's death, Bonnie posted a pic of herself holding her mom's hand, writing on Instagram, "So thankful to call you my mother. Rest In Peace, mom. I love you so much."

In response to Dog's tweet, Beth's stepdaughter Lyssa tweeted, "Beth we love you."

On Saturday in a statement to Hawaii News Now, Dog "humbly" requested that everyone "please pray for Beth," thanking "everyone for their prayers throughout Beth's battle with cancer.” Beth was first diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer in September 2017, but thought she had beaten it. In November of the following year, doctors discovered the cancer had returned and had spread to her lungs.

In January, the couple announced their new reality series "Dog's Most Wanted," but by April, she was rushed to a hospital with respiratory issues, and wound up having "almost four liters of fluid removed from her lungs."
