Val Kilmer Speaks Out on His Alleged Cate Blanchett Obsession
On Wednesday, actor Val Kilmer defended his recent tweets about his former co-star Cate Blanchett.
After a special screening of his one-man play “Citizen Twain,” Kilmer took part in a Q&A. When one person in the audience asked who his favorite co-star was, he quipped, "I can't say Cate Blanchett. I wrote nice things about Cate Blanchett on Twitter and now I'm a pervert.”
“I don't know why loving an actor that's so talented is creepy, but I guess I'm creepy,” Kilmer went on. "It makes no sense. I didn't say anything weird. I write about all my friends. There's no story. Nothing weird.”
Over the weekend, he tweeted, "Once I flew all the way to Australia just to talk to Cate Blanchett. Her husband met me first. Or, instead, I guess, to be accurate.” He eventually deleted several of the tweets.
Aside from Cate, Val also reiterated that he does not have cancer. Despite his slurred speech, he told People magazine that he was “doing great” after the show in Irvine, California.
Val was recently forced to shut down rumors that he was battling cancer after Michael Douglas commented on his health in London. In November, Michael said, "Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don't look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That's why you haven't heard too much from Val lately.”
