While promoting her new show “Champions,” Kaling was brought to tears by “Today” co-host Hoda Kotb, who read a recent tweet from Novak.
Earlier this month, B.J. posted a pic of Mindy's “A Wrinkle in Time” poster, tweeting, “When I met @mindykaling she lived in a small apartment on Fairfax Ave. This is what's in front of that building today. Congrats Mindy and a future congrats to all those who see you in it and are inspired to do great things. @WrinkleInTime.”
In response to the sweet tweet, Mindy shared, “That actually makes me want to tear up. It's really moving. When I was coming up there was no one who looked like me on TV or film, and it was such a nice thing that he remembered that."
As she wiped tears away, Kaling emphasized, “I was so moved by that. No, it's true: If you dream big, you can get whatever you want."
Last month, Mindy and B.J. sparked reconciliation rumors after they showed up together at the Vanity Fair Oscar party.

View StoryThree years ago, Mindy opened up about her relationship with B.J., telling InStyle, “I will freely admit: My relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell. He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend.”
She added, “I guess you could describe our relationship as a 'romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,' but I don't think Facebook would accept this as a new status.”
In 2014, Kaling reflected on their split, telling Howard Stern, “He broke up with me. It was years and years ago."
She elaborated, “That was the hottest I ever looked because I stopped eating. When I get depressed, I stop eating so I was so miserable and I was so beautiful. I remember waking up, barely getting out of bed and we worked together, but I didn't care, I had no makeup."
