Judd Apatow Says Rob Reiner’s Murder Is ‘Really Tough’ on Mel Brooks (Exclusive)

Comic legend Mel Brooks has been making people laugh for seven decades.
Brooks is the subject of HBO documentary “Mel Brooks: The 99 Year Old Man,” directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio.
The documentary features an interview with the late Rob Reiner, whose father was best friends with Brooks.
“Extra” spoke with Judd, who revealed Rob’s shocking murder has hit hard for Mel.
Judd said, “It’s family, you know. It’s a really tough one because as Rob talks in the documentary, you know, he met Mel when he was 5 years old.”
Mel is getting ready to turn 100 in June, and he’s still fiery and funny.
Judd commented, “If you ask him a certain type of question, suddenly he’ll go on just a hilarious run… He just runs hot.”
