ABC Exec Rob Mills Talks ‘The Bachelorette’ and What’s to Come on ‘The Bachelor’
“The Bachelorette” is heating up with Tayshia Adams taking the reins, and Matt James' season of “The Bachelor” is in full production. So who better to chat with ABC Entertainment Executive Rob Mills than “Extra's” resident “Bachelor” expert, Rachel Lindsay?
Rachel asked what we all want to know: Was this season's original Bachelorette Clare Crawley forced out?
Mills explained, “It was more like a mission accomplished… She knew what she wanted, and being that hyper focused and all of the [chemistry] with Dale sort of came together.”
Clare receiving backlash online with people questioning her for not following protocol. Rachel asked, “Do you agree with the fact that she left?”
Rob answered, “Clare should have absolutely done this. What I don't agree with is the hate.”
Rachel put the rumors to rest that everything was planned, revealing, “It wasn't planned, because I was going to be on Clare's season. I was going to the airport. I was told 'Clare's fallen in love'… I know it wasn't like, 'Here we go. Here's the next person.' I was supposed to be on Clare's season. Now I'm on Tayshia's.”
Rob added, “I understand there's always conspiracy theories about everything. The fact that somebody would say this was actually scripted beforehand is ludicrous.”
Lindsay wanted to know, does Tayshia get engaged? Rob laughed and replied, “You would ask me that.”
Rachel went on to ask, “Does she stay longer than 12 days?” Rob joked, “No, there's two other Bachelorettes.”
He did reveal, “I can tell you unequivocally the season ends with Tayshia… There's going to be a lot of laughter, a lot of tears.”
When the season ends with Tayshia, “The Bachelor” begins with Matt James. “He is doing phenomenally,” Rob said, adding, “The girls are insanely crazy about him, which always helps.”
The show is still filming. Mills shared, “This is a guy who has not had a lot of exposure. It's all new… He brings some different angles we haven't seen before… People are going to really like it… We have had stuff that has been an emotional as we have ever seen.”
He also teased that one of the women arriving in a limo does something we have never seen. “This is something else… You'll know exactly what I am talking about when you see it.”
Rachel asked how the season will end for James, and Rob said, “Regardless of what happens, he is going to be true to himself.”
