Julianne Hough and her brother Derek were in NYC for the 87th Annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Wednesday night.
Hough, who performed “All I Want for Christmas Is Love” at the festivities, was with “Extra” on the red carpet.
Hough and her “America’s Got Talent” co-star Gabrielle Union recently made headlines when they left the show after just one season.
Union reportedly met with NBC on Wednesday, but Julianne told us she and Gabrielle have yet to speak. “We have been busy here promoting this ‘Holidays with the Houghs’ special," she explained. "We will connect, for sure.”
The nature of Gabrielle’s exit has been the subject of much speculation. It has been reported that Union’s contract was not renewed after she complained about what is being described as a “toxic culture” inside the NBC show. The network told “Extra” that the show “has a long history of inclusivity and diversity.” They added, “NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”
Julianne said she is grateful for the support of the Hollywood community in the wake of her leaving the show, saying, “I think it’s incredible to see people supporting people… I value that at the top of my list. When you can support one another and show love and kindness, when you do it through integrity and authenticity, that’s the greatest thing you can offer someone.”
Meanwhile, the brother and sister duo said they were thrilled to be a part of the Rockefeller celebration. Derek said, “To be here in this iconic place with tens of thousands of people, it’s exciting."
Julianne added, “Derek and I have our holiday special coming up — it’s great.” The hourlong "Holidays with the Houghs" will air December 16 on NBC, and will feature music and dance.
