Mahershala Ali Is the New Blade!

Marvel rocked social media Saturday at the 2019 Comic-Con International: San Diego with the surprise announcement that two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali will star in the reboot of the "Blade" series!

As Huffington Post reports, this won't be Ali's first foray into superhero territory — he voiced the Prowler in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" and Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes on Season 1 of "Luke Cage."

The "Blade" trilogy — 1998's "Blade," 2002's "Blade II," and 2004's "Blade: Trinity" — originally starred actor Wesley Snipes.
Ali is coming off his second Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor, for "Green Book." He also has a recurring role on "True Detective."
