Rob Reiner Reveals Princess Diana’s Reaction to Racy 'When Harry Met Sally' Deli Scene
It's been 30 years since "When Harry Met Sally" was released!
The stars of the iconic rom-com, Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, met up with director Rob Reiner at the special screening of the movie at the TCM Classic Film Festival 2019. The director revealed to "Extra," "I realized as we were driving over... I don't think I've seen the film in over 25 years."
Reiner reminisced about the time he watched it at the London premiere in 1989 with special guest of honor Princess Diana. He said, "We were all sitting there nervous because as we approached the famous scene in Katz's Deli where my mother says, 'I'll have what she's having,' we realized, 'Oh, my God, how is [Diana] gonna react to it?' And she laughed! She was laughing and she turned to Billy at one point and said, 'I would be laughing a lot more, but I know that everybody's watching me.'"
While everybody is hoping for a sequel, Rob is against the idea. He explained, "Once I've done something, that's it... I've done it and I don't want to go back to it."
As for where the beloved characters, Harry and Sally, would be today, Rob commented, “They're probably still together. They've had a couple of kids, maybe three, and they have not had smooth sailing, they've had a rocky road — but they're still solid.”
