Mysterious Disappearance? China’s Highest-Paid Actress Fan Bingbing Sparks Concern
Fan Bingbing hasn't been seen publicly in months, sparking rumors that she is missing.
Bingbing was last photographed walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival premiere of “Ash Is the Purest White.”
She was on hand at the annual festival to promote her new film “355,” starring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz and Marion Cotillard.
Along with staying out of the public eye, the "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star has not posted on her social media accounts since late May.
In her last Twitter post, the 36-year-old showed love for Céline Dion, writing, “What a fascinating performance! can't wait to see you again in China.”
While the Bingbing star was recently caught up in a tax evasion scandal in China, she has not been charged with any crime. She has denied allegations she evaded taxes by signing two different contracts for one job.
There have been conflicting reports on Bingbing's whereabouts as of late, including some speculating that she is in the custody of the Chinese government, while others claim that she's seeking asylum in Los Angeles.
Her reps have not commented on the rumors that she may be missing.
