George Clooney on the First Time He Met Amal: 'I Didn't Leave the House'
Actor George Clooney has been married to wife Amal for over three years... and now he's opening up about their first meeting!
During an appearance on “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman,” Clooney revealed that he met his future wife without leaving his house.
In July 2013, Amal was near George's home in Lake Como, Italy, before making her way to Cannes with a friend. He shared, “A mutual friend of ours said, 'I'm stopping by and can I bring my friend?' And I was like, 'Of course!'”
Amal also received the seal of approval from George's agent. He commented, “I got a call from my agent who said, 'I met this woman who is coming to your house, who you're going to marry.' It really worked out that way.”
George's parents were also on hand for their first meeting. He explained, “The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there. And we just talked, we stayed up all night talking. And I got her email address, because she was going to send me some pictures of my parents. So we started writing. I didn't know if she wanted to go out with me — I just thought we were buddies.”
Back in September, Clooney opened up on his first impression of Amal, telling THR, “I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart.”
After their first meeting, Amal “sent some pictures from when she was here, and we were writing each other, emailing, talking, mostly about what was going on in each other's lives, and over a period of time it became clear we were more than just friends."
Clooney would propose less than a year after they began dating. They are now parents of twins born in summer 2017.
