Last night, supermodel Kate Upton revealed that she was engaged to Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander after three years of dating.
Sporting a huge sparkler on the red carpet at the Met Gala, Upton told E! News, "I'm really excited. He asked me right before the [baseball] season started, so we've been keeping it on the down-low for quite a while. So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world!”
When asked if they were in any rush to walk down the aisle, she said, “We are enjoying the engagement period.”
Justin was not able to accompany Kate to the Met Gala since he is currently playing for the Detriot Tigers, which extended his contract for $180 million earlier this year.
Kate attended the star-studded event wearing an asymmetrical dress by Topshop, which she helped design. She shared, "I did really enjoy designing it. I think it's a fun event to design for. You can really do anything, so it's fun to have that freedom."
Upton also decided to cut a few inches off her hair for the special occasion. She said, "Every time I was trying on the dress, it has this really cool one-shoulder moment, and I liked my hair stopping at this certain point on the dress. Peter suggested that we just cut it and we did. We just chopped it off. It grows back."
