Barker: I Can't Wait to Get Home
Musician Travis Barker is still recuperating from burns he sustained in a Learjet crash last month -- and has blogged about how the thought of seeing his two kids has motivated him to do everything possible to recover quickly.
"I want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who has helped deal with the current situation," Barker writes on his MySpace blog. The rocker goes on to write about seeing fellow crash survivor DJ AM the other day -- and describes his fellow musician as "an inspiration." He blogs, "I am so happy to see him doing well -- and we are both so lucky and grateful that we are alive today."
Travis describes how the burns he got in the plane crash are beginning to heal -- and how he is motivated by the thought of his children, Landon, 5, and Alabama, 2, to recover as quickly as possible. "It's been a slow recovery process -- I am coming up on the seventh of my surgeries Monday," writes Travis. "I'm doing everything I can possibly to do get back to my kids."
The former vegetarian even admits to eating meat to help heal. "Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, than it's all worth it."
The proud dad ended his blog on a touching note, writing, "I can't wait to get home to play drums with my son, and go for bike rides with my daughter. I can't wait to see the pictures from Landon's "Jack and Sally Nightmare Before Christmas" birthday party that we had for him today. I am bummed that I couldn't be there, but thank God Ill be around to see many, many more."
