Child Actor Who Played Anakin Skywalker Arrested After High Speed Chase! See the Mug Shot
Jake Lloyd, best known for playing Anakin Skywalker in the 1999 film “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” was arrested last week after a high speed chase.
A police spokesperson told E! News the former child actor was going “well over 100 miles per hour” as he led officers on a chase that spanned two South Carolina counties.
After he crossed from Charleston County to Colleton County, “the car drove through the woods and wrecked out after having crashed through a small fence and a number of trees,” said the spokesperson. “He was apprehended at that time, about 2 p.m. The chase had been going on for about 20 minutes before his arrest."
The source continued, "He resisted arrest and once handcuffed, we had trouble getting information out of him. He told police his name was Jake Broadbent. He was quiet and didn't say a lot. He was alone."
Authorities say the 26-year-old did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and they did not conduct a field sobriety test.
Lloyd faces charges of reckless driving, driving without a license, failing to stop at a blue light (a police car's flashing lights) and resisting arrest.
His bail was set at $10,000, and as of Sunday he remained behind bars. He is due back in court in July.
