Former 'Survivor' Contestant Arrested for Child Porn
As reported by Us Weekly, former "Survivor" contestant Mike Skupin, a father of seven, has been arrested on charges of possessing child pornography.
Skupin, 54, who lives in Oakland County, Michigan, is alleged by the state attorney general of scamming investors out of thousands of dollars in what is described as a "gifting scheme" dubbed "Pay it Forward." Investors ponied up $10,000 apiece to get in, and were reportedly being paid back, plus extra, once more investors joined the pyramid. According to charges filed against Skupin, once no new investors joined, the scheme unraveled, leading investigators to search Skupin's laptop, on which it is alleged that "images of underage children in sexual situations... alleged to belong to Skupin" were discovered.
Along with six counts of possession of child sexually abusive materials, Skupin faces five counts of larceny by conversion and one count of racketeering-conducting a criminal enterprise.
In a statement, Attorney General Bill Schuette, said, "Not only did this man rob people of their hard-earned savings with his financial scams, but he victimized innocent children every time he looked at a piece of child pornography. This man seems to have no concept or caring for right and wrong and will be prosecuted under the full extent of the law for these horrific crimes.”
Skupin competed on "Survivor" Season 2, during which he severely burned his hands. He returned to compete on "Survivor: Philippines" in 2012.
