Prince’s Autopsy Complete
UPDATE: The Carver County Sheriff's Department and Medical Examiner's Office held a press conference to address Prince's death.
During the conference, Sheriff Jim Olson revealed that there is no reason to believe that Prince's death was a suicide, and that there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
He said Prince was last seen at 8 p.m. Wednesday night when he was dropped off at Paisley Park. He was found the next morning, collapsed in the elevator on the first floor of his estate. He does not recall seeing an elevator phone or cell phone, with which the singer could have called for help. Prince was alone when he died.
A representative from the Medical Examiner's Office said that the autopsy included a full panel of tests, including tissue and toxicology samples. She added that releasing any type of preliminary report will be up to the Sheriff's Office.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office has completed Prince's autopsy.
No information has been released at this time, and toxicology results could take weeks.
A statement from the Medical Examiner's Office said, “As part of a complete exam, relevant information regarding Mr. Nelson's medical and family history will be gathered. Anything which could be relevant to the investigation will be taken into consideration. Midwest Medical Examiners Office will not release information until the exam is complete and all results are obtained. Gathering the results will take several days and the results of a full toxicology scan could likely take weeks.”
Prince was found dead in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate on Thursday.
