Beyoncé & JAY-Z Set to Be Honored at GLAAD Media Awards 2019
Hollywood power couple Beyoncé and JAY-Z are receiving a huge honor at the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards!
The pair will be recognized with the Vanguard Award for their contributions in promoting acceptance of the LGBTQ community.
In a statement, GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said, "Beyoncé and JAY-Z are global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people. When Beyoncé and JAY-Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear. We could not be prouder to stand with them to send a message of love during the biggest LGBTQ event in the world and to honor their work to bend the arc of justice forward for LGBTQ people, people of color, and marginalized communities everywhere.”
Last year, JAY-Z was honored with the GLAAD Special Recognition Award for his song and music video “Smile,” featuring his mom Gloria Carter, who had come out as a lesbian.
The GLAAD Media Awards will take place on March 28 in Los Angeles.
The news follows an announcement in February that superstar Madonna will receive the Advocate for Change Award at the New York City edition of the GLAAD Media Awards, taking place May 4.
