Kim Kardashian’s Insurance Claim Reveals Real Value of Stolen Jewels
Reality star Kim Kardashian has submitted an insurance claim on her stolen diamond ring, TMZ reports.
In the documents, Kardashian claims that 13 items worth a total of $5.6 million were stolen. The value is less than what was recently reported after the heist. Though the ring was rumored to be worth $4.5 million, Kim estimated the value to be $4 million.
How much could she get back for the stolen items? Janece White, a jewelry specialist at Chubb Personal Risk Services told Billboard, “It all depends on the type of jewelry coverage the customer purchased. Was it worldwide coverage? Was there a maximum amount of coverage provided while traveling? Were there any restrictions with regard to the security required while traveling with the jewelry? In some instances, restrictions are placed on the policy which require that when traveling the jewelry be kept in a secure hotel safe — not the room safe.”
Heather Perkins, head of underwriting at a Los Angeles jewelry insurance specialist, elaborated, “Very high value, unique and rare items can be tricky to replace with pieces of 'like kind and quality,' which is the standard for most insurance companies. So a multi-million-dollar claim like this one is going to be difficult, both to investigate and to resolve.”
While Kim is dealing with the aftermath of the robbery, production on her hit show “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” has been halted. An E! Spokesperson told “Extra” on Thursday, "Kim's well-being is our core focus right now. No decision has been made as to when production will resume.”
Kim is remaining quiet on social media, but her sisters have returned to their accounts, including Kylie, who has started using Snapchat again. See her Snapchat video below!
