Kevin Hart’s Big Health Update Following Car Crash
Comedian Kevin Hart was in a horrific car crash over Labor Day weekend that left him hospitalized.
Us Weekly reports that Hart is now out of the hospital, and will undergo physical therapy at a live-in rehab facility.
Sources say the 40-year-old could spend two weeks at the facility, depending on his progress.
“Doctors have cautioned that he may need to stay longer,” the insider explained. “The plan is for him to have a physical therapy aide living at the house when he is discharged.”
His wife Eniko Parrish was by his side as he was transported.
An insider told the mag, “He is in great spirits and doesn't need to be taking a lot of the pain medication.”
Kevin suffered three spine fractures, two in the thoracic section and one in the lumbar, according to TMZ. He underwent surgery within a day of the accident to have the fractures fused.
Recently, his “Night School” co-star Tiffany Haddish gave "Extra" an update on his health at the Harper's Bazaar Icon Event at New York Fashion Week.
Tiffany told us, “I don't know if he's excellent, but he's good. He's walking. He's fine.”
Hart was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it veered off Mulholland Drive in the Malibu Hills. His security team arrived on the scene and helped him out of the vehicle, but driver Jared Black and passenger Rebecca Broxterman were trapped inside.
The group had been hanging out at Kevin and wife Eniko's Calabasas home before the accident, according to TMZ. A police report confirmed the driver was not under the influence.
“Extra” has obtained two 911 calls. One reveals Kevin needed medical attention after he got home, and the other call was made from the scene.
In the call placed from Kevin's home, a woman tells the operator, “He's not coherent at all... he can't move,” adding that his back was injured.
The other call was made by a driver who pulled over around 1 a.m. to help after discovering Hart's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda had veered off the road.
The frightened passerby tells the dispatcher the “roof is crushed” and the “car is pretty totaled.”
At the time, Kevin had already been helped out of the vehicle, while Black and passenger Broxterman were still inside.
