Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on How He Embarrasses His Teenage Daughter
“Extra's” Charissa Thompson sat down with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to talk about his new film, “San Andreas.”
The wrestler-turned-actor, who plays a divorced rescue helicopter pilot searching for his teenage daughter after a massive earthquake hits California, revealed he could relate to the character as the divorced dad of his own teenage daughter, Simone.
“I know what it's like to be divorced, I know what it's like to struggle in relationships, I know what it's like to have a pretty good job and be pretty good at your job, but at the same time have insecurities,” he explained.
Johnson continued to say he drew on his real life experiences, “I drew on the awesome relationship I have today with my teenage daughter cause there's no greater bond than daddy-daughter.”
The 43-year-old admitted his daughter thinks he's cool, even though he embarrasses her, “She quietly thinks I'm cool, but I just have this tendency to embarrass the s**t out of her at any time, 'cause I'm that dad who'll all of a sudden breaks out in song. I'm that dad who, when I drop her off at school, she's trying to be quiet and like 'Go go go' and I'm like, 'Bye baby, see you,' everybody's like 'That's The Rock, yeah honey, I got this big pickup truck, yeah.”
Johnson also admitted that making “San Andreas” does make him afraid of a real earthquake. “We had the top seismologists and earthquake scientists all Cal Tech, USC, poring over the script… when they finally walked away, the scientists said, 'Okay, this could actually happen and we pray to God that it doesn't.”
