Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Dishes on Golden Globes 2018 Plans
It was a big day for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The former pro WWE wrestler turned Hollywood superstar was surrounded by family and friends, including his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Hashian and two daughters, Jasmine, 1, and Simone, 16, as he humbly accepted the honor.
“Extra” chatted with The Rock, who gushed about his daughter Simone, Miss Golden Globes 2018. He said, “I'm going to be one of her dates for the Globes, yes, 'cause she has a few dates. We're all doing our best to go, entire family — we are very very proud of her.”
He continued, “For Simone to exercise that kind of poise at such a young age, at 15, 16, now is just incredible. I'm so proud as her daddy. When I was 16, I was arrested for the last time, so thank God things have changed.”
Johnson spoke from his heart, even giving some useful advice about life. He shared during his speech, “It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.”
The Rock did not write a speech for the ceremony. He explained, “I figured the best thing for something like this was to not write anything down and to speak from the heart… My lovely lady Lauren said to me last night, 'What if you just tell them what it's really about?'”
The star of the new film “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” always a friend to “Extra,” had a little message for our own Mario Lopez after being interviewed by him and his mini-me daughter at the premiere this week. He joked, “Hey, Mario, I'm only talking to Gia from now on. You're a candy-ass. I'm only saying that 'cause I was told to say it. I'm gonna call you, you are my boy.”
