'Bachelor Nation' Couple Taylor Nolan & Derek Peth Call Off Engagement

In a statement to E! News, the pair said, “It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement. We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us. We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."

Last August, Peth popped the question to Nolan during a “Bachelor in Paradise” after-show. At the time, host Chris Harrison told the site, “If people ever wonder if this stuff is real... all you had to do was see him, he was shaking like a leaf. That was one of the sweetest, rawest moments I've seen in a long time."

Taylor and Derek let the sparks fly on the fourth season of the show.

The split comes just months after Derek relocated to New York City, while Taylor stayed in Seattle.

ABC has just announced the cast of the fifth season of “Bachelor in Paradise,” which premieres August 7.
