Jessie James Decker on Pregnancy, Weight Gain... and Breastfeeding Selfies
With an 18-month-old daughter and a baby boy on the way, singer Jessie James Decker is American Baby's magazine's Mom of the Moment, opening up on everything from pregnancy to breastfeeding selfies.
"With my daughter, Vivianne [18 months], I had horrible morning sickness. I threw up every day, sometimes twice, for five months, which then made me insanely hungry. So I'd stuff my face to try not to feel nauseated, and I gained 55 pounds. On my 5'1" frame, that was brutal! This time has been much smoother. I sometimes even forget I'm pregnant except for all the moving around he's doing in there!"
Jessie and husband Eric Decker, the New York Jets wide receiver, recently found out that their baby-to-be is a boy!
"I hear boys are wilder. I'm not sure how that's possible, because my daughter is a wild woman. I swear she's me incarnate. I was crazy full of energy as a kid and so is she. Vivianne is also a girl's girl, wanting to wear pretty dresses all the time. Eric has pro athletes on both sides of his family -- plus I used to play sports -- so I'm sure our son will develop athletic ability. Eric can't wait to be able to throw a football with him."
With the baby due in September, Jessie also opened up on her opinion of breastfeeding selfies.
"People get upset about nursing photos, but they are okay with photos of half-naked (or even all-naked!) women on social media! That's messed up. In photos of me nursing, there's probably less cleavage than what I've shown on the red carpet. Sharing breastfeeding photos online is a good example for other women who want to nurse. Nursing is hard. It doesn't always come easily, and we need to support each other."
