Chris Cuomo’s Best Advice for Battling COVID-19, Plus: He Shares His Chest X-Ray
CNN anchor Chris Cuomo is updating viewers on his health and giving his best advice for battling the coronavirus.
While talking with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Chris shared what he has learned since being diagnosed with COVID-19, saying he feels “better than I deserve.”
"I now know that I can't just take it from this thing," Cuomo said. "That when the fever spikes, you just wanna curl up in a ball and stay there for the next six, seven hours, and you can't. You gotta bundle up your clothes, you gotta start drowning yourself in fluids, you gotta take your Tylenol and you gotta get after it."
He followed up by explaining, "If you don't want it to get into your lungs, you gotta force yourself to breathe, you gotta get up off your ass, you gotta walk around. It hurts, you don't wanna do it, everything in your body is telling you not to do it, and it's lying to you. And I know that now, and the more I do, the more I push myself to do, the better I'm getting. So I'm gonna take faith in that for now."
They clarified that workouts are a no, no, but that pulmonary exercises are recommended.
Cuomo said that over the weekend he felt his fever start to come down and the virus come into his chest, so he went in for an X-ray. Cuomo and Gupta explained that the smoke-like white portions in the X-ray were the virus, and that they could be much worse.
Last week, Chris detailed his shocking symptoms, revealing he had suffered weight loss, hallucinations, and even chipped a tooth from shivering. Read more about that here.
Meanwhile, Chris' wife Cristina has been keeping a diary of his daily regimen on her Purist website. Cristina worked with Dr. Linda Lancaste, who specializes in Ayurveda, medical radiesthesia, radionics, energy healing, nutrition, herbal medicine, and detoxification methods.

She explained her husband has been taking a lengthy list of natural remedies like echinacea, belladonna, vitamin D, magnesium and homeopathic combinations of antiviral sand respiratory response aids, not to mention over-the-counter products like Tylenol and Allegra. See the full list on her website.
Cristina also details his diet, with breakfasts like: Homemade tea of ginger and lemon and a small blueberry yogurt with organic raspberries. A lunch might include spinach, kale, and watercress soup with a whole-wheat pretzel, while a dinner example would be wild salmon, broccoli, chicken soup, a small scoop of raspberry sorbet with blueberries, and a turmeric Juice Press drink.
She added that 30 minutes of sunshine helps, as well as sitting in a Sunlighten sauna. She explained, “Every day, he has been doing special lung breathing (resonance) exercises, from Dr. Sarfaraz Munshi at Queens Hospital, as well as walking around the yard so he can be off his back and get fluid flowing.”
Cristina shared the same breathing exercise video posted by author JK Rowling, showing users how they can lay on their stomachs and breathe and cough. Check it out below.
