Tatum O'Neal Reacts to Her Dad's 'Piers Morgan' Interview
Actress Tatum O'Neal visited The Grove and talked with "Extra's" Mario Lopez about her new book, "Found: A Daughter's Journey Home" -- and about her father, Ryan O'Neal, and his recent interview on "Piers Morgan Tonight."
On the CNN talk show, Ryan told Piers there was "turmoil during my love affair with Farrah, and a lot of it caused by my kids, particularly Tatum."
Tatum told Mario she didn't see the interview, but later read the whole transcript. "I think it was taken out of context," she said. The actress has since seen her dad and said all was good. "I think he's sort of unhappy the way that it got misconstrued, if you will."
Ryan and Tatum are currently sharing their emotional reconciliation in the OWN reality show "Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals," and Tatum has written her own memoir on recovering from substance abuse.
"You're trying to become yourself and you've got a fan base telling you, 'No, we want you like this'," explained Tatum. "You've got the directors going 'No, no we want you like this' and I think 'Okay, give me a drink, I'll figure it out.' I was holding on to a lot of anger and it's really good to let the anger go."
"Found: A Daughter's Journey Home" is in bookstores now, and "Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals" airs Sunday at 10:00 PM on OWN.
