Kerry Washington Speaks Out About Ad Week Cover Controversy
Kerry Washington is speaking out about her Ad Week Photoshop controversy.
The “Scandal” star graced the cover of the mag, looking nothing like herself. She talked to “Extra's” AJ Calloway about the image at tonight's New York premiere of her new HBO movie “Confirmation.”
Kerry said, “I think I was pretty clear about my thoughts on Instagram. It felt strange to look at a picture of myself that is so different from what I look like when I look in the mirror. It's an unfortunate feeling.”
She continued, “I'm really excited that there's a conversation happening I feel like the community that I have that I belong to on social media was really supportive, it's been a really great conversation.”
Washington is also excited about her role as Anita Hill in HBO's “Confirmation,” even more thrilled by Oprah Winfrey's surprise appearance at the L.A. premiere.
She told Kerry she didn't want to make her nervous, but that plan was foiled by the fact that Oprah sat right behind her. “Like that's going to make it better, I can't even watch the movie now cause Oprah's behind me.”
She smiled, saying, “ My husband's like just relax, it will be fine, I'm like but Oprah's behind me…Every time she laughed I'm like she laughed, Oprah laughed, that's good.”
