Chrissy Metz Reflects on Her ‘American Idol’ Audition

“This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz is currently on a promotional tour for her new book “This Is Me.”
In the book, Metz opened up about her audition for “American Idol” in 2007.
On Tuesday, the former talent agent told “Extra” about her audition, saying, “It was actually a really great experience.”
“I'm glad that I showed up for myself and sat in a stadium for eight hours… I was like, 'I'm committed. I'm gonna see it through.'”
Though she didn't make it past the audition, the 37-year-old felt like it was all meant to be! She explained, “If it wasn't the right path, that's cool — I would have never had 'This Is Us.' It is all written in the stars — I believe. It happened exactly the way that it was supposed to.”
When asked if she would have hit it off with original judge Simon Cowell, Metz shared, “I think we would have been friends.” She added, “Not kidding, Simon, let me know.”
