Michael Douglas' Son Released from Prison After Nearly 7 Years

Michael Douglas' son Cameron has been released after almost seven years in prison, People reports.

In 2010, Cameron, 37, was sent to prison after being convicted for possessing heroin and selling methamphetamines. He was originally given a five-year sentence, but his prison term was extended after he tried to smuggle drugs into the prison. As a result of his confession, he was put into solitary confinement for two years at Maryland's Cumberland Federal Correctional Institution.

Back in 2013, Cameron opened up about his life behind bars in a letter published on Huffington Post. He said, "Here I sit at my little table in the belly of the beast, writing to you. I have spent close to two of my four years of incarceration in solitary confinement."

He went on to slam the penal system, saying, "I'm not saying that I didn't deserve to be punished, or that I'm worthy of special treatment. I made mistakes and I'll gladly and openly admit my faults. However, I seem to be trapped in a vicious cycle of relapse and repeat, as most addicts are.”
