Renée Zellweger Hits the Red Carpet for a Good Cause
Renée Zellweger showed her support for a cause close to her heart by attending The ALS Association Golden West Chapter's "One Starry Night: From Broadway to Hollywood" charity event at the Pasadena Playhouse, where she posed for photos with musician BF Doyle Bramhall.
Zellweger was there to support her good friend and longtime publicist Nanci Ryder, who was recently diagnosed with ALS, saying, “I have a really deep-rooted connection with The ALS Association Golden West Chapter because of my friend's experience with the disease… Nanci, my publicist, who is not here right now, and I'm having a very interesting reaction to that, I've never been on a carpet without her.”
While the actress was having a hard time without her publicist in attendance, she was still excited for the event. “It's a happy, fun crowd… and a lot of familiar faces from the community... and I'm looking forward to celebrating the work that they do and supporting the work they do.”
Zellweger isn't one to use social media, but said she may give it a try in order to raise awareness of ALS. “I've never done it, I haven't had time, really, I gotta get back to calling my mother, I gotta email my brother, I don't know how people find time for it, but I know I felt like if I had a really great use for it, I would.”
