Luann de Lesseps Recalls ‘Dying of Laughter’ with 'RHONY' Cast on Zoom, Plus: She Talks New Season
The new season of “The Real Housewives of New York City” starts tonight, and the ladies are spending the premiere apart from one another as they isolate in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
“Extra's” Jenn Lahmers spoke to Luann de Lesseps via video chat to see how she is doing.
“We are lucky to be out in the country,” she said. “What's happening in New York is heartbreaking. We are home taking care of each other, keeping busy, following the guidelines of social distancing… It's a whole new life that we are leading… I am living with 20-year-olds, so I am trying to keep them safe.”
How is Luann staying busy? “Cleaning house, playing games, doing yoga online, trying to make the best of it.”
She is also keeping in touch with her “RHONY” castmates. “I've been talking to the Housewives,” de Lesseps said. “We've been zooming together… Thank God we have that so we can see each other and feel like we can communicate still.”
The reality star just spoke with her castmates. “Ramona [Singer] was on the beach yesterday, with her boobs out,” Luann dished. “We were dying of laughter. We are all hunkered down in our houses and she is on the beach in a bikini.”
Ramona is quarantined with her ex-husband Mario and their daughter Avery in Florida. “Ramona is with her ex. She says they are just friends and I wonder how long that will last, especially with the quarantine.”
Luann herself is single, saying, “Maybe I should consider online dating at this point… I think it would fun maybe to flirt with somebody online. I have never done it before.”
Teasing the premiere of “Housewives” she said, “Season 12 is always the Housewives… out and about in New York City. I feel like I am going to see that tonight and say, 'Oh, my God, I miss that'… It's really a lot of fun, past seasons have been darker. The timing is just perfect… It's lighter, it's a lot of fun.”
She also opened up about the latest addition to the cast, saying, “We have a new housewife Leah McSweeney… She's a tough native New Yorker, she's a business owner, a mother, but she is also vulnerable.”
Leah came in after Bethenny Frankel left the show. Luann explained, “Sure, Bethenny will be missed… Bethenny took up a lot of oxygen in the room. I have to say, women have more room to breathe. Therefore, you get to know them better.”
Luann is looking forward to getting back to her “Marry, F**k, Kill” cabaret show as well, which she said is postponed. “That will come out in the fall. I am really looking forward to that and to reconnect with my fans.”
