‘The Bachelorette’: Charity Lawson & Dotun Olubeko on Wedding Plans & ‘DWTS’ (Exclusive)
Just hours after millions watched Charity Lawson and Dotun Olubeko get engaged on “The Bachelorette” finale, the happy couple joined “Extra’s” Billy Bush to dish on their journey.
When asked if it was the bungee jump that cemented it for Charity, she answered, “It was a lot of things. It was everything, truly, but the bungee jump day definitely had me.”
As for when he knew that she was the one, Dotun commented, “It was probably that day… I knew I wanted her, and with the dates, that feeling after that just became more and more true… That was a big day, and we just connected more than we ever could’ve expected.”
The happy couple confirmed that they are each other’s soulmates. Lawson noted, “I think soulmates come in so many forms, but when it comes in a loving, really, like, intimate way — like, I definitely believe Dotun was made to be with me.”
Olubeko couldn’t agree more, saying, “I second that. I actually got kind of jaded as far as dating went and I started to stop believing in the soul and idea and thought, like, you just have to make things work, you know? This whole journey has changed that for me, so I truly believe in the same way she said it, that there’s certain people who can be really made for you on this earth.”
The pair also talked about their love and respect for runner-up Joey Graziadei, who is the new star of “The Bachelor.”
Dotun said, “We actually love and respect Joey, truly, and wish him the best throughout his season.”
While Joey was one of Dotun’s “best friends on the show,” he admitted, “It was hard to watch. He almost took her away from me.”
Joey didn’t succeed, and now the pair are planning a wedding!
They don’t have a date set yet. Dotun pointed out, “Wedding planning is a lot, and we just want to enjoy the love that we have.”
The two do have a wedding song picked out, though, but they aren’t revealing it yet. Charity hinted, “It was a song that became really special for us throughout the season."
Charity is taking on “Dancing with the Stars” next.
She is keeping it real, saying, “I’m not a dancer. I have not been trained in that, but I did cheer, so have a little bit of experience… all the little twists and turns in the air.”
Charity is “beyond excited,” saying, “I grew up watching this show, so am very excited to take on this fun opportunity.”
Charity believes Dotun “would crush it,” if he was on “DWTS.” He quipped, “I’ll cut it up if I have the opportunity, but I just don’t know if I’d thrive.”
