LeAnn Rimes on ‘Coyote Ugly’ Mash-Up and New Album, Plus: Is She the Sun on ‘The Masked Singer’?
LeAnn Rimes is opening up about marriage, health, music… and those “Masked Singer” rumors in a new interview with “Extra’s” Jenn Lahmers.
Back in April, she celebrated nine years of marriage to Eddie Cibrian, telling Jenn, “We had our anniversary this year during the middle of COVID, and we just looked at each other and we were like... ‘We’re doing it up next year.’ So I think next year is going to be a year of celebration. For sure.”
Like the rest of the world, she’s been getting used to spending more time at home. “It’s been really interesting being at home for this long, because I’ve been on the road since I was 13, so to be in one spot is very, very strange to me,” she said. “But I’ve been loving it.”
Being honest about the stress that contributed to her first major psoriasis outbreak in 16 years, she said, “It very much coincided with the shutdown… The stress of that immediately triggered me... I was diagnosed when I was 2 and I’ve been very open about it, but I’ve never shown it.”
LeAnn decided to show the world the outbreak in nude photo shoot. “I want to set myself free,” Rimes said, adding, “I wanted to utilize it to set other people free, too… Whether you have psoriasis or not, I think there’s so many things that we hide about ourselves and this I felt like was hopefully a permission slip for others to come out of hiding, too.”
Meanwhile, fans want to know if LeAnn is the one hiding under the Sun costume on “The Masked Singer.” Rimes said, “My Twitter has blown up with people thinking that it’s me and… I want know who it is, because I think they’re really amazing. I’ve heard them sing and I think they’re fantastic, so I’m interested to see.”
Fans can hear LeAnn on a new chanting/meditation album called “The Human & the Holy.” She said, “Even though chanting is a form of singing, it’s so incredibly vulnerable to put myself out in this way. Because this is part of my own personal spiritual practice, and to allow people in that is incredibly vulnerable.”
She is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of her hit movie “Coyote Ugly” with a megamix mash-up of “The Right Kind of Wrong,” “But I Do Love You,” “Please Remember,” and “Can’t Fight the Moonlight.”
LeAnn said, “That was the only bar I was dancing on when I was 17, so my mom was happy about that.” She added, “The four songs I did for the soundtrack we’ve compiled into one massive dance megamix, so if people are bored sitting at home and you want to relive 20 years ago… it’ll have you dancing around your house. It’s really joyful.”
