At the top of the show, the finalists included: Violinist Brian King Joseph, singer Daniel Emmet, trapeze act Duo Transcend, singer Courtney Hadwin, comedian Samuel J. Comroe, singer Glennis Grace, magician Shin Lim, singer Michael Ketterer, dance group Zurcaroh, and comedian Vicki Barbolak.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
The contestants competed for the top spot until just Shin Lim and Zurcaroh were left. In the end, Lim was crowned the winner!
Lim is a master at sleight of hand, and showed off his talents in the finale when he performed a card trick for host Tyra Banks and "American Ninja Warrior" co-hosts Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila.
The 26-year-old takes home the $1 million grand prize, and will headline the “America's Got Talent Live” stage show Nov. 2-4 at Paris Theater in Las Vegas.
On Thursday morning, “Extra's” Renee Bargh spoke with Lim at Universal Studios Hollywood, where he opened up about the life-changing moment!
He shared, “It's still kind of sinking in, but at the time, it felt like a dream, everything went out of focus, everything went silent, and suddenly I felt myself being lifted up by Zurcaroh.”
Shin said he was beyond shocked, adding, “I thought Courtney was going to win, in my head.”
Lim also credited judge Simon Cowell with helping him win, explaining, “He told me in the quarter finals that I needed to go bigger… From what he said, I started changing my direction. For my finale act I was going to just do a close-up trick with the cards, something small, but then I decided to do something completely out of my comfort zone.”
After Shin's win last night, “Extra's” Terri Seymour spoke with Simon, who took partial credit, saying, “I did actually say to Shin last night after he performed, 'I think you could win after this,' and I... and I spoke to him after the performance and I went, 'This is what we've been waiting for, we've been waiting for, like, your personality, and blah, blah, blah, blah blah...' So I sort of helped him win.”
Terri also spoke with fellow judge Heidi Klum, who agreed with America's pick, commenting, “America always gets it right…America voted and they voted for Shin Lim and now we can't wait to see him in Las Vegas!”
Shin emphasized that he learned “so much about myself, as a person, a magician” from the whole “AGT” experience.
During his chat with Renee, Shin also showed off his cards, pointing out that he practices every day.
Simon, Heidi, Mel B and Howie Mandel were joined by superstar guests KISS, Placido Domingo, Lindsey Stirling, Bebe Rexha and David Spade for the finale.
