Dennis Quaid Reveals Honeymoon Plans After Surprise Wedding with Laura Savoie
Actor Dennis Quaid, 66, and his fiancée Laura Savoie, 27, are officially husband and wife, and the actor is telling “Extra's” Billy Bush all about their surprise wedding.
People broke the news earlier today, the couple said “I do” at a seaside resort in Santa Barbara on June 2.
The couple eloped after telling “Extra” a few months ago that their Hawaiian wedding was on hold due to COVID-19.
Dennis told Billy today, “Yes, we went up to Santa Barbara and we went up there without a license because the riots were that weekend and Monday was when we were supposed to get our license… It was another week and a half, on the 18th, when we did our Zoom civil ceremony.”
Their pastor was their only witness at the San Ysidro Ranch where they tied the knot. “Our pastor did the vows for us,” he said. “We wanted traditional. We just said, 'Make it traditional,' and he was great, the pastor of our church.”
The couple has big honeymoon plans, too. Dennis revealed, “The kids are going to camp and that's when we're going to take a honeymoon so it'll be a romantic car drive across America… we're going to stay everywhere you can stay.”
Billy said he wants to FaceTime them from every state, and Dennis joked, “That would be great... like beside the biggest ball of string or something like that… all those roadside attractions.”
Previously, the pair opened up to People about the nuptials.
“Just looking into her eyes, she was the most stunning bride,” Dennis recalled about Laura, who wore a Chosen by One Day gown.
They exchanged vows with Bulgari rings, and Laura was deeply touched by their officiant, who focused on the message “of what it really means to bring your lives together. To put another person before yourself.”
Dennis, who wore a Hugo Boss suit, revealed that “it was love at first sight” when he met her at a business event in 2019. He gushed, “I just love who she is as a person. Her character, her intelligence, of course her beauty. And her point of view of the world."
Laura pointed out that she's “never met someone who is so in love with life. It's like nothing can bring him down.” She added, “Just getting to do life with someone who lives that way is inspiring for me. It changes my perspective and it brings so much joy to every day."
Dennis and Laura, who had been set to marry in April, were forced to postpone their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A few months ago, “Extra's” Billy Bush caught up with Dennis, who opened up on their decision to postpone. He said, “We were supposed to be married April 4 in Kauai. Craig T. Nelson gave us his house. It was going to be nice and small.”
Dennis added, “We postponed… once we started to hear about Italy… We have a few members of the family and friends who have low immune systems due to medical treatment, medical issues going on. We decided, 'Let's just postpone.'"
Dennis hinted they were going to “do something closer to home.”
The pair got engaged in October after just several months of dating.
