Bachelor Nation’s Tyler Gwozdz’s Cause of Death Revealed, and Why It Could Be Amended
Tyler Gwozdz died in January at just 29, and now his cause of death has been revealed.
According to documents obtained by “E! News,” the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner in Florida has listed his death “an accident” as a “result of opioid toxicity (heroin).”
The docs go on to state, “Given this information and a lack of admission specimens for testing his death is best classified as Opioid Toxicity (Heroin). It is possible that the offending agent could have been a different substance than heroin. However, given the circumstances it is best classified as such. If additional information becomes available in the future, it will be evaluated, and if needed the cause of death amended.”
Tyler was found unresponsive Jan. 13. A woman called 911 around 10:45 a.m. to report a suspected medical overdose, and the Boca Raton Police Services Department responded.
During a heartbreaking 911 call, obtained by “Extra,” a woman can be heard telling a dispatcher, “I think my friend overdosed and he won't wake up.” She also notes he's locked in the bathroom.
Asked what he took, the caller answers, “Heroin,” but says she did not know where the Narcan was. She said, “I don't know why it's not here.”
The woman was able to eventually break through the locked bathroom, locating Gwozdz lying on his side. With some instruction from the dispatcher, she was able to get him on his back. Soon after, first responders arrived.
He was eventually taken to a hospital, where he died Jan. 22.
Now, his family has set up a foundation in his name and a GoFundMe page to raise funds. They wrote, “It is our hope that this foundation can help, in any way, to lessen the burden of addiction for families like ours in the future.”
