Lena Dunham Describes Fear over TSA Run-In: ‘They're Gonna Amanda Knox Me’
“Girls” creator Lena Dunham recently had a scary encounter with airport security.
Appearing on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Lena explained she was detained at LAX after security scanners detected that she was in possession of a "self-defense keychain."
The actress said, "It's shaped like a cat… it goes over your knuckles, but I guess the two ears could gut somebody. I understood sort of intellectually it could be used as a weapon, but really all I thought was like, 'What a cute little cat!'”
According to Dunham, TSA agents were alarmed enough to contact law enforcement and conduct a criminal background check!
She added, "I was so scared. I was like, 'They're gonna Amanda Knox me. I'm gonna go away for a long time.' The criminal justice system is broken in this country. They put away the good people and let the bad people go free."
Eventually, the 27-year-old was released with a warning. Her kitty keychain, however, was confiscated!
