Alec Baldwin’s Bold Assumptions About the Trump Administration
Alec Baldwin is having a busy week. On Monday, the actor celebrated his 59th birthday with wife Hilaria as they co-chaired NYU's annual Tisch School of the Arts Gala.
Earlier in the day, Hilaria took to social media to post a photo of the couple and their three children, Carmen, Rafa, and Leonardo, celebrating with a cake. Alec told “Extra” about his special day, “My wife and my kids made a very nice birthday.” Alec also revealed that he had cake from his favorite coffee shop owner. “We had birthday cake at 11:30 in the morning, it was great.”
Alec also weighed in on politics. The actor, who has been outspoken about the Trump administration while lampooning the President on “SNL,” pointed out that there are still a lot of questions about President Trump's business practices. “Trump said, 'I don't need to release my taxes because there are not laws that say that.' But there are traditions, one tradition is that you stay at the White House as much as possible and get work done... seems that Trump is someone who is shattering every tradition, labeling himself a maverick when in truth he is just lazy. There's a lot of stuff that is going to come out.”
Though Alec would love to run for office, Hilaria is not a big fan of the idea. Alec smiled, “We're not gonna do that… I think people need something different, I think that all the people that are on deck to run for office in 2020, none of them are going to win… You think that things are bad now, I tell you when things are going to get worse – if he wins again.”
Baldwin's movie “Boss Baby” was #1 at the box office. He shared, “I'm very happy the movie did well, it's such a great thing.”
To top off the week, his new book, “Nevertheless: A Memoir,” went on sale today. In the book, Alec opened up about his past marriage and struggles with addiction, as well as his highs and lows in the industry. Despite how candid it is, Alec isn't nervous for it to be released, saying, “I'm married, we have a wonderful family, that's all I care about.”
