‘Archenemy’ Star Joe Manganiello Talks COVID-Safe Thanksgiving with Sofía Vergara, Plus: His Blue Mohawk
Actor Joe Manganiello has a new movie, sci-fi thriller “Archenemy.”
“Extra’s” Nate Burleson spoke with Joe about the role, just days after celebrating Thanksgiving with his wife Sofía Vergara and their families.
Joe dished, ”Thanksgiving was great. I'm lucky to be married to a woman who loves decorating and loves parties, so she had this great idea where we would sit outside… so that everybody can be socially distanced and have their own table.”
He went on, “We had this great COVID-friendly Thanksgiving. Sofía’s son Manolo cooked the turkey. He cooks turkey every year that's his thing… I ate tons! I eat a ton all the time especially on Thanksgiving.”
We all know Joe is a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are currently undefeated. What does Joe think of their chances of winning the Super Bowl? He said, ”We certainly have some games, some tough ones coming up, but we can do it. We're good on both sides. We’re tough.”
These days, Joe is looking tough himself with his blue mohawk. Of his ever-changing hair during the COVID-19 pandemic, he shared, “I've had no free time since the pandemic and I've actually I had a really busy year… I rarely get to do anything with my hair or how I look… even when it's not work, it's still work, you know… I'm in the middle of moving from white mohawk, which was for work, to shaved head for work. So the in-between I have a couple of weeks where I get to do whatever I want — and so I want blue Mohawk.”
When asked if Sofía digs his new look, Joe answered, “I mean, you know, she knew coming into this thing that she married an actor. She knew it was gonna get weird at some point.”
Things get really weird for Joe as misunderstood “Max Fist” in “Archenemy.” He explained, “Max doesn't know who Max is. And that's really the premise of the story.”
“We know Max lives under a bridge, he's homeless,” Joeelaborated. “We know that Max has some drug and alcohol issues. And we know that Max babbles on and on and on about how he believes that in another dimension, he was their champion, the way that you would imagine Superman, right? And he will babble on about this to anybody who will listen and nobody believes him.”
“Archenemy” hits select theaters December 11.
