Emmys 2017 Red Carpet! Kate McKinnon Explains Why It’s Exciting to Be a Comedian Right Now
Before actress Kate McKinnon won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, she was on the red carpet with “Extra's” Mario Lopez.
The “SNL” funnygirl pointed out that she has never come face-to-face with host Stephen Colbert, saying, “I have never met him, but he is one of my favorite comedians — I am so excited.”
As for today's world, McKinnon emphasized that politics and being a comedian go hand in hand, explaining, “It's part of the national conversation right now and you'd be remiss not to talk about what everyone is talking about.”
“It's an exciting time to be a comedian," she added. "I am very proud to be a comedian right now."
McKinnon also gushed over Lopez, “Especially standing on this stage with you.”
McKinnon, who has played Hillary Clinton on “SNL,” revealed she has not read the former presidential candidate's brand-new book just yet, sharing, “As soon as I get home, I am going to bust it out.”
