Kevin Hart’s Extensive Injuries Revealed Following Horrific Car Crash
New details have been revealed about the extensive injuries Kevin Hart suffered during a car crash on Sunday in the Malibu Hills.
Sources tell TMZ that Kevin suffered three spine fractures, two in the thoracic section and one in the lumbar.
He underwent surgery Sunday night to have the fractures fused, but is reportedly heavily medicated due to the intense pain.
TMZ points out that lumbar fractures can affect walking or cause partial paralysis in the limbs. Hart is expected to make a full recovery, but faces weeks or months of rehabilitation.
Hart was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it veered off Mulholland Drive. His security team arrived on the scene and helped him out of the vehicle, but driver Jared Black and passenger Rebecca Broxterman were trapped inside.
The group had been hanging out at Kevin and wife Eniko's Calabasas home before the accident, according to TMZ. A police report confirmed the driver was not under the influence.
“Extra” has obtained two 911 calls. One reveals Kevin needed medical attention after he got home, and the other call was made from the scene.
In the call placed from Kevin's home, a woman tells the operator, “He's not coherent at all... he can't move,” adding that his back was injured.
The other call was made by a driver who pulled over around 1 a.m. to help after discovering Hart's 1970 Plymouth Barracuda had veered off the road.
The frightened passerby tells the dispatcher the “roof is crushed” and the “car is pretty totaled.”
At the time, Kevin had already been helped out of the vehicle, while Black and passenger Broxterman were still inside.
The caller assures the victims, “Help is coming, guys! Don't worry... the ambulance is on the way!”
His wife Eniko broke her silence over the weekend, telling TMZ that Kevin is “great,” adding, “He's going to be just fine. He's good. Everybody's good, thank God... He's fine. He's awake.” When asked if he is back to laughing and joking, she said, “Nah.”
The Barracuda was reportedly Kevin's 40th birthday present to himself in July.
