Drew Carey’s Ex-Fiancée Amie Harwick Killed
Drew Carey's ex-fiancée, sex therapist Amie Harwick, has died at the age of 38.
Over the weekend, Harwick was found gravely injured at her Hollywood Hills home. She died a short time later.
The LAPD released a statement, telling The Wrap, “On Saturday, February 15, 2020, around 1:16 a.m. Hollywood patrol officers responded to a radio call of a, 'Woman Screaming,' in the 2000 block of Mound Street in Hollywood Hills. When officers arrived, they were met by a roommate who was in the street. He informed officers that the victim was being assaulted inside of her residence. The roommate had jumped a wall and went to neighboring residences to call for help.”
“When officers went to make entry, they found the victim on the ground beneath a third story balcony. The victim was gravely injured. She suffered significant injuries consistent with a fall. The victim was unresponsive,” the statement continued. “The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries. The investigation revealed possible evidence of a struggle in the upstairs as well as forced entry to the residence. A canvass of the area located further evidence of an intruder (suspect) entering the property and leaving after the murder.”
According to law enforcement, Harwick recently “expressed fear about a former boyfriend and has previously filed a restraining order against this person.”
At the time of her death, the restraining order had expired.
TMZ reports that Harwick's ex, Gareth Pursehouse, was booked on a murder charge upon being arrested Saturday. He is currently being held on $2 million bail.
Hours before his arrest, Pursehouse remained active on social media. He tweeted, “You can't get fit without that new gym clothing. But they won't give you that gear until you're fit. Soo ... Tough titties bucko.”
Just a day before her death, Harwick expressed her thoughts on Valentine's Day. She wrote, “Many people are celebrating love today. Whether you are in a relationship or not, exposure to this could feel overwhelming if you are in an unhealthy relationship, dissatisfied with your relationship status, unhappy in your relationship, or feeling pressure to be in a relationship. I think that Valentine's Day is a wonderful time to be mindful and redirect thoughts about love to platonic love. There is so much cultural emphasis on romantic love, but let's be thankful for the authentic love that we give and receive to friends. 💕.”
Carey and Harwick got engaged in February 2018. It is unknown when they called off the engagement.
Drew remembered Amie on Twitter, writing, "I hope you're lucky enough to have someone in your life that loves as much as she did."
