Carrie Underwood Reveals She Had 3 Miscarriages
Carrie Underwood, the mother of a son and pregnant with her second child, has revealed she endured three miscarriages in the past two years.
People magazine reports the "Cry Pretty" singer talked about her losses on "CBS Sunday Morning," saying she had her first miscarriage in 2017.
"I'd kind of planned that 2017 was, you know, going to be the year that I work on new music, and I have a baby,” she said. “We got pregnant early 2017, and it didn't work out.”
Hospitalized! Why Carrie Underwood Canceled Her Recent UK Appearances
View StoryThe 35-year-old superstar told CBS her response was to rely on her faith. She remembered saying, "Okay, God, we know this is, just wasn't Your timing. And that is all right. We will bounce back and figure our way through it."
Along with her hockey-star husband Mike Fisher, 38, Carrie's frustration mounted when she had another miscarriage later that year — and that feeling intensified when she had yet another earlier this year.
She still held back from feeling angry, saying, "We are so blessed. And my son, Isaiah, is the sweetest thing. And he's the best thing in the world. And I'm like, 'If we can never have any other kids, that's okay, because he's amazing.' And I have this amazing life. Like, really, what can I complain about? I can't."
She felt like God heard her prayers, recalling asking the heavens, "Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can't have a kid?... That was like a Saturday — and the Monday I went to the doctor to, like, confirm, another miscarriage. And they told me everything was great!”
