'The Angry Birds Movie' Takes Flight at the Box Office

The makers of "The Angry Birds Movie" should be very happy with this weekend's box-office receipts — the film adaptation of the popular video game soared to a $39-million opening weekend, according to Variety.
Sony's animated flick flew past newcomers "Neighbors 2" and "The Nice Guys," generating an A+ CinemaScore rating from under-25 moviegoers.
"Neighbors 2" performed solidly, but was 55% off from the first in the series.
The weekend's Top 5:
(1) "The Angry Birds Movie," $39 million
(2) "Captain America," $33.1 million
(3) "Neighbors 2," $21.8 million
(4) "The Nice Guys," $11.3 million
