Blake Shelton’s Heartwarming Love Confession: ‘Gwen Saved My Life Last Year'
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani's romance caught many people by surprise... including them!
In a new interview with CMT's Katie Cook during the network's "Hot 20 Countdown," Shelton revealed, "It's not something anybody could've seen coming besides God I guess because it doesn't look like it would make sense. All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we're at in our lives.”
Blake hasn't been shy about his romance with Gwen, even crediting her for changing his life, saying, "I tell people all the time, 'Gwen saved my life last year. She did. I think she'd tell you something similar about me.”
Shelton emphasized, "Even coming into [her] second season [working on] 'The Voice,' I didn't even really know her that well. All of a sudden this thing just happened because of some things we were going through and it saved my life, period."
Blake and Gwen's romance has brought more interest to their new duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which they performed for the first time on “The Voice” last week. He explained, "There's just been such media craze around us being together, I think that's why there's been a lot of views.”
As for how the song came about? Blake confessed, "It was odd because we wrote the song last fall sometime. I started the song just because I was trying to impress her and I sent it to her on like voice memo. Just texted it to her.”
The full interview airs on CMT on Saturday, May 21, at 9 AM.
