Tiger Woods Told Police He Had No Memory of Driving Before Crash
Tiger Woods told sheriff's deputies he had no memory at all of driving his Genesis SUV prior to the crash that nearly cost him his life.
This new detail was reported by CNN, and related to a Los Angeles County search warrant affidavit. The affidavit was issued in order to locate and examine the vehicle's black box.
In the same documents, it is revealed that Woods came to sometime before sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, but after a bystander found him trapped in the driver's seat of his SUV, his face and chin stained with blood.
According to the affidavit, "The deputies asked him how the collision occurred. Driver said he did not know and did not even remember driving. Driver was treated for his injuries at the hospital and was asked there again how the collision occurred. He repeated that he did not know and did not remember driving."
While the affidavit exposed new details of the crash's aftermath, Sheriff’s Deputy John Schloegl pointed out that seeking a search warrant for the black box is routine. He also stressed that the investigation is not being treated as a criminal investigation.
Schloegl told USA Today, “We’re trying to determine if a crime was committed. If somebody is involved in a traffic collision, we’ve got to reconstruct the traffic collision, if there was any reckless driving, if somebody was on their cell phone or something like that. We determine if there was a crime. If there was no crime, we close out the case, and it was a regular traffic collision.”
Schloegl also revealed that law enforcement didn’t obtain Tiger’s blood because there was “no probable cause.”
Woods’ team has been cooperative, according to Schloegl.
